Slurry separation is the ideal solution for farms with a large animal population and small distribution areas. It reduces the storage capacity requirement up to 30%. Through specific use of nutrients of the liquid and solid fractions, mineral fertilizers can be saved. Extra profits are possible by selling the solids to small gardeners for example, or as a basis of compost for horticultural farms.

Why use a slurry separator?

Screw press separators can reduce the capacity of storage required for slurry by up to 30%.  The fibrous solid material spearated from the liquid can be used for cubicle bedding and as a soil amendment.

  • Slurry storage reduced by over 20%
  • Separated liquid is easy to spread
  • Separated liquid is easier to store
  • Nutrient rich liquid can be applied directly to root system
  • Reduced risk of run off as less of fertilising chemicals left on soil
  • Increased grass palatability
  • Reduced spreading time
  • Liquid being absorbed quickly means livestock can be put to the quickly sooner than after spreading a conventional slurry

Solid fraction can be used for:

  • biomass
  • green bedding
  • soil amendment

Separated slurry only loses a fraction of its fertilising benefits. The NPK rating of separated liquid compared to conventional slurry:

Conventional slurry2.911.402.29
Separated liquid2.381.101.84

Kompack ramp

The Kompack ramp can increase the efficiency of the separator by to up to 70% and helps in removing the additional liquid before separation

The unique Ramp design (pre-separation filtration system designed by Segalés) increases the performance of the equipment. Slurry from pigs or cattle using flushing usually has a high percentage of liquid, so in this case it is important to pass the slurry over the pre-filtering ramp to remove the initial run of liquid.

The ramp regulates the flow that enters in the separator increasing the efficiency and lifespan of the separator. It also reduces the operating costs and means less maintenance and spare parts needs during use.
